This is PURE speculation of course.
But.....I think Fisher is feeling the pressure. I think Kroenke has made it clear, or perhaps it doesn't have to be made clear, that after spending a zillion dollars to move to LA and to build a World Class stadium, that the on-field product has to be something commensurate.
It's no coincidence that the year they move, they mortgage the farm for a shiny new QB.
And now they're on Hard Knocks. And we hear Fisher saying he's not accepting anymore 7-9, 8-8, even 10-6. It's time for this team to produce wins. It's time to be in the Playoffs.
I'm hearing people at training camp say he's stickin' his nose in everywhere and doing some serious yelling and straightening guys out.
I've said for years that occasionally throwing someone under the bus who more than deserves it is a good tool. Calling out Quick was the right thing to do; he sucks. This should have happened 2 years ago. Quick is either a head and shoulders better this Saturday, or he's gone (he won't be better, because he can't be). And it will be an example for others.
I think they ought to cut Sensabaugh unless he is a whole lot better soon. Eat the $4.5 mil. It was a dang dumb move in the first place. Keep and play the best players, not the ones with the biggest guaranteed paychecks. This is business, and the players know it. It's time for Fisher to stop being an honorary players' advocate and start being an advocate for the fans and the owner......by producing a winning football team. It just might be that this is what is starting to happen. I hope.
I think Fisher is seriously thinking that a very public firing in the 2nd largest media market is only one more 7-9 season away. And maybe he's ready to do whatever it takes to avoid that.
