Whether it's a "#1 WR" like a Holt or Bruce or not, "receiving threat" is the key. Receivers the defense respects and has to account for every play. Receivers that prevent defenses loading up the box vs. the run. I do think Higbee could develop into that guy. And if he does the unpredictability of the offense goes way up, regardless of play calls.

I also think Higbee and Spruce together could be just what the Rams need to solve for their horrific 3rd down conversions rate. Not to say we can count on plugging in two rookies to do that, but in the longer run I think they can.

Austin is already a threat. He's just not enough by himself.

Yup, 93.

I think of it like this.

If opposing D's now put 8, or more, in the box against Gurley, they are playing with fire.

Given our improving OL, it's more possible that Britt, Austin, Higbee, Cooper, or Spruce could get into their secondary and do some serious damage. In fact, with several of those guys it could be 6 points.

But if they don't walk up an 8th man to defend Gurley, he can really hurt them all game long. And he can potentially break one for 6 points, himself.

Our O now contains some real scary weapons. Weapons that require special scheming. At some point, just how distracted does the D become when trying to focus on too many weapons? Gonna be fun to watch and find out, I think.
