Seems to be constantly peddled by the NFL media and old boy network. Like there's only 32 men on the planet that can do the job, so if you've got one, even if they aren't successful, well - good luck finding another unicorn. I think it's why there are a lot of recycled head coaches. You hear about 'Stability' and 'continuity' which is all great, but what about 'performance' and 'success'. Look at what it took to get a guy like Arians a shot and yet people are saying Jeff would be picked up in a heartbeat if we let him go. I find that sad. There are undoubtedly many bright coaches working in the league who all they need is a shot. Instead teams get saddled with re-treads like Mike Mularky.
On a side note, I like it when guys like Chip Kelly come in and disrupt the status quo and get everyone all torqued up. The guy may flame out, but in his wake may be some new ideas and philosophies that other teams integrate. Kind of the way Martz, though flawed as a head coach, changed the game in some ways.
