This year was the first time I watched the Combine with full concentration. I had seen them before, obviously, but I watched casually.. this year I watched intently.
Now I did not at that time, obviously, know whom the Ram's were going to take. And at the time I was reading and hearing about "Wentz" far more than the others.
As they threw it was as plain as the nose on your face that Wentz had the strongest arm. I even posted about it, saying the trajectory on his ball, especially on the out patterns, was noticeably lower and had more 'zip' than any of the other QB's.. ANY of the other QB's.
Not long after that I read the measured speed of their passes and Wentz came in... oh, I don't remember... 3rd at best, maybe lower? That made no sense to me then and it makes LESS sense to me today... after pondering how that could be in the months since the combine.
I'd like to know exactly 'when' and in what situation they time the speed of passes because the only answer to the above quandary, in my eyes, that makes sense is that there is throwing just to be throwing and then there is throwing after taking a snap, at speed, and reading your intended receiver. - JamesJM
