Our cracker jack airport last year switched from United Airlines to "Pen Air". From where I am (365 Miles North of San Francisco), you typically fly to SFO airport then on to LA. But Pen Air, an Alaska based company flies to Portland, then back from there to LA.
If I don't fly out of this airport, I either drive North to Medford (2 hours) to catch a morning flight to LA or Humboldt County and catch a flight from their to SFO. There was no need to do this as the flight was confirmed last night on the airlines website.
Unbeknownst to me, when I arrive at 630 to our local airport this AM, the FLIGHT IS CANCELLED and they knew it the night before because the plane actually lands the night before but couldn't because of fog. For some reason the airline didn't think it would be a good idea to tell any of the other 15 passengers who got up early to head out to various parts of the country that it was cancelled.
By doing this, they foreclosed other options because the other small airports flights to LA all leave early. After wanting to vomit, missing the first Ram game back, I thought of my other friends who will be the beneficiaries of my tickets. I am happy for them and when the game comes on ESPN, my pulse rate will go from elevated angry to elevated happy.
The first thing I did when I got home (after I wrote a threatening letter to Pen Air detailing all the money they owed me), was book my Rams v. Seattle week one game out of a neighboring airport, the NIGHT before the game. Guess I'll meet some of you west coast herdsters (leaf, rampage 2k, and others at that game - though i will likely be there next week too).
Until the game, I will
thanks to the herd for being part of my therapy session this morning.
