Just for jollies, I went to the Washington Post website for player stats and pulled up Jake Matthews and G. Robinson to compare
In two full years of play Robinson started 28 games out of 32, had 24 penalties, of which 8 are false starts, 14 holding calls and allowed 10.5 sacks
In two full years of play Matthews has started 31 games out of 32, had 13 penalties, 4 for false starts, 8 holding calls and has allowed 10.5 sacks.
Robinson has been penalized for 209 yards, Matthews 110 yards.
I have watched Robinson during every game in past two years and he seemed to be targeted by Refs and was often called for holding when replay showed no holding and on at least a couple of calls the play by play and color commentators noted same about Robinson. Both players have played hurt, Matthews missed one game due to injury and should have sat out about six games on one site I looked at. Robinson played with foot injuries last year and a rotating grab bag of mediocre lineman next to him. He plays better when paired with a veteran.
In sum, I don't see much difference in these players, despite Ross Tucker's comment that Rams should have taken Matthews, I don't see it. In these days of spread offense we are not seeing lineman like in the old days and they often take time to develop. Lets give Robinson a chance with a consistant offensive line, I think he will be a good player.
