He was an excellent player. There isn't a single post in this thread that says he wasn't.
But he had some pretty average years. He held out. He made STOOOPID contract demands. He showed up out of shape a few times. He skipped OTA's, pre season and camps. And he missed time due to injury that could be a side effect of showing up way overweight and out of shape and not prepared to play.
He acted like a guy some people don't like.
He had the talent and ability to be mentioned among the best of all time and being in the discussion or setting the bar for best ever. He ended up not even being the best during the time he played, maybe top 3 or 4, and in large part because he didn't try as hard as he could have.
Money mattered more.
Lots of people don't like that kind of thing, me among them.
In or out of the HOF he didn't give his all and that's pretty clear.

It’s because people (some not all) simply can't move beyond a personality or a perceived slight. In this case Pace holding out and his agents being disagreeable. That and the reference that he was somehow lazy and not a hard worker...which I didn't necessarily understand fully. I mean he wasn't Shaq in that regard.
I do think it unfortunate that these come from Ram fans though.
