The Rams could have never fathomed they’d be forced to play as many offensive linemen as they have this season. They had their starting five set for Week 1, but only one of those players is currently playing the position he started the year at: Rob Havenstein.

Coleman Shelton has stepped in at center with Brian Allen out, A.J. Arcuri is the fourth player to start at left tackle and David Edwards remains sidelined with a concussion. It’s been a never-ending list of injuries along the offensive line, to the point where Sean McVay doubts any team has ever played as many linemen as the Rams have this year.

“Absolutely, that is definitely something you want to be mindful of,” McVay said following the Rams’ loss to the Chiefs on Sunday, referring to the opportunities other players are getting. “And really, as a result of just the amount of injuries, it kind of is – it’s got to occur. You don’t really have a choice. Guys are going to get some opportunities like you’ve seen each of the last couple weeks when you’re playing more offensive line than probably anybody ever has in the history of this game, and you’re getting good evaluation, so that’s the only way you can look at it.”

Through 11 games, the Rams have started 11 different offensive line combinations. That’s almost unheard of, and it’s hard to imagine any team this season has started that many this year.

Sadly, no combination has worked for the Rams, and it’s hard for any group to get any sort of consistency with so many changes week to week.
