This is a real blindspot in the Rams scouting. They can find hidden gems at lots of positions, but RB isn't one of them. I don't know if I remember a time where we've had so many years of dreary, boring, non-explosive RB's. Ever since Gurley's knee finally caught up to him. There are very good backs to be found in every round of the draft (just look at some of the top starters in the league) and yet, since 2019 it's been a parade of names on the roster and practice squad and not one of them gets you excited when they're on the field. Akers was a miss, I think. The achilles is unfortunate - but even before that his claim to fame was he played behind a terrible o-line at FSU. He also was known to have ball security issues which we've experienced first had.
I think the team underestimated the impact that Michel had last year. He's a decent player and it might have been worth it for the Rams to make a deal to keep him and jettison Funk during camp. Talk about another random RB 'addition'.
Here's hoping we can swing a deal before the deadline and bring in someone like Michel who can carry the load for the bulk of the season. Henderson is a decent complimentary back and pass catcher. Doesn't even have to be a 100 yards a game guy, maybe just a 70-80 yards a game guy.
