McVay needs a real OC. One that collaborates and calls the plays on game day.
If Bellicheck can collaborate with a DC and then turn the Defense game management over to the DC, McVay can do the same with the Offense.
Right now, McVay has no accountability. No one to get him to step back from the cliff. No one to be his alter ego.
He has a tendency to get too cute at the wrong moments. Or to take too much risk at the wrong moments. It's as though he must get fancy because simple is just too simple.
I love McVay and want him to be with the Rams for many years. But Kroenke needs to reel this side of him in.
The Rams will attract a very good OC if that OC is allowed to call the plays. If McVay won't do that, he'll only get 2nd rate.
