Sean McVay expects Darrell Henderson to play against Cardinals on Sunday
But with a quick turn around next week, Sony Michel should continue to be heavily involved

The “will he, won’t he play” dilemma with LA Rams running back Darrell Henderson took a turn for the “he will play” this week. Rams head coach Sean McVay updated the media on the progress of recovery from a rib cartilage issue for Henderson, noting that the third-year back participated in practice on Wednesday and that he expects Henderson to be ready to face the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday at SoFi Stadium.

But McVay was not willing to guarantee that Henderson would be active and in any case, it would seem that Sony Michel has earned more playing time moving forward.

#Rams HC Sean McVay said RB Darrell Henderson participated in the walkthru practice today.

He added that he expects Henderson to play in Week 4 against the Cardinals but isn’t 100% on that at this time.

Henderson suffered a rib cartilage injury at the start of the fourth quarter in Week 2’s win over the Indianapolis Colts and he was inactive in Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Michel started, had some great pass blocking, and ran the ball 20 times for 67 yards. It now looks as though Henderson will be active, but it is possible that Michel could start and get the bulk of the work.

Henderson’s injury right now is likely most about pain tolerance and he may be able to move without hindrance this Sunday, but the Rams also have a Thursday night game next week against the Seattle Seahawks, so McVay must also consider load management. Henderson has 29 carries for 123 yards and four catches for 46 yards in his two games this season.

Rookie Jake Funk had his first career carry in Week 3, gaining six yards.
