QB second contracts: and the beat goes on ...

September 03, 2019 06:18PM
Soooo close: predicted a $33M average for Goff, he got $33.5M ... thumbs up smiley [ramsrule.com]

Here are the last 9 second contracts signed by QBs: they average 15.13% of the cap ...

2015, Wilson, 4 yr., $87.6M, $21.9M (15.28%)

2015, Newton, 5 yr., $103.8M, $20.76M (14.49%)

2015, Tannehill, 4 yr., $77M, $19.25M (13.44%)

2016, Luck, 5 yr., $123M, $24.59M (15.83%)

2017, Carr, 5 yr., $125M, $25M (14.97%)

2018, Cousins, 3 yr., $84M, $28M (15.8%)

2018, Garoppolo, 5 yr., $137.5M, $27.5M (15.51%)

2021, Wentz, 4 yr., $128M, $32M (approx 14.88%)

2021, Goff, 4 yr., $134M, $33.5M (approx 15.58%)

Note: Marriotta, Winston, and Prescott are all up for their 2nd contract in 2020 when the cap will be $200M. I look for Marriotta & Winston to be on the lower end of the range (14.9%, which would work out to $29.8M a year, or 4 yr, $119.2M) and Prescott to come in a little higher than them (maybe 15.5%, which works out to $31M a year, or 4 yr, $124M)
