Could any leftover free agents interest the Rams?

The Rams are most likely done making moves..... or are they?

Now that free agency and the NFL Draft have both passed, most rosters are generally set and ready to go for the remainder of the offseason. Either way, there are plenty of quality free agents who remain unsigned, and a handful of them can still make an impact for various franchises.

Let’s take a look at who could make sense for the Los Angeles Rams:

C/G Stefen Wisniewski

Wisniewski is a 30-year old veteran who could step in and backup three positions immediately, if not push for a starting spot at either left guard or center. I’d hedge the Rams want Joe Noteboom and Brian Allen to start, but Wiz — as they call him — could offer plenty of veteran experience behind both barring injuries. Wiz has played in 123 NFL games, starting 101 of those. He also has a Super Bowl ring from his time in Philadelphia, so that doesn’t hurt.

C/G Ryan Groy

Groy is a guy who the Rams actually tried to sign in 2017 when the new regime under Head Coach Sean McVay began. Groy was a restricted free agent at the time with the Rams offering him a contract sheet (which he signed) that was ultimately matched by the Buffalo Bills. Long story short, he’s got plenty of experience under Run Game Coordinator/Offensive Line Coach Aaron Kromer, and could compete at guard and center.

G Nico Siragusa

Siragusa is a 24-year old former fourth-round pick who hasn’t played due to a torn ACL as a rookie, and last season spent as depth for the Green Bay Packers. Siragusa fits a power blocking scheme better, though he could be brought in for cheap and to compete in training camp.

DT Ndamukong Suh

I mean, this would be great, wouldn’t it? Suh wasn’t elite with the Rams, but he was still very effective. I think the key to keeping Suh near-elite level is to dial back his snaps because playing 850+ snaps year-in-year-out is wearing him out. With the addition of Greg Gaines on running downs, Suh could be kept fresh as a rotational pass rusher. Issue is the cap space, though let’s give it another shot. What say you, Ndamukong?

LB Zach Brown

Brown is one of the best linebackers in football, so his continuous trips to free agency is quite a head-scratcher. Either way, Brown was released only one year after signing a three-year $24m deal by the Washington Redskins. His elite speed allows him to be a weapon on all three downs, and all the Rams have at inside linebacker at this time is Cory Littleton and Micah Kiser.

LB Jamie Collins

Collins is not one that interests me personally, though his fit would make a lot of sense in Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips’ defense. Collins is an off-ball linebacker with blitz skills and even some coverage ability. He was at his best years ago with the New England Patriots and has yet to re-create that magic, though playing with the Cleveland Browns hasn’t exactly done him any favors. Either way, Collins was one to take plenty of plays off in Cleveland, and that doesn’t inspire a ton of confidence, especially when you consider the culture the Rams have built within their building.

The team also needs a cushion to pay the practice squad and players they sign to replace injured players mid season
