Blinkscout Combine Day 3 Analysis ... 3 parts.

March 05, 2019 12:34PM
Have less time to watch after the weekend so Im splitting the last two up, which is actually good as the DB group was kinda disappointing (Im looking at YOU Jaquon Johnson) to say the least and the DL/LB group put on a show.

This year they had the intelligence to split the groups by inside and outside, which helped with subtle motion analytics form player to player. Also helped me with tweeners a great deal. I'll bold my targets.

DT first ...

Terry Beckner Missouri 6035 296 5.19 5.19 1.86 28 7.97 24.5 8-2 8 5/8 32 1/4 This is a rotational guy, but shows better in his lateral movement than I had expected.

Isaiah Buggs Alabama 6031 306 5.15 5.15 1.82 20 8.01 24.5 8-0 9 1/4 31 1/4 Plays better than he tests. Short arms. He was only okay in drills in my opinion.

Demarcus Christmas Florida St. 6033 294 5.08 5.09 1.77 22 8.13 25.5 8-5 9 1/8 32 3/4 Splash player who tested pretty well and looked fluid, but his tape should keep him in the 5th round area.

Byron Cowart Maryland 6030 298 5.16 5.15 -- 26 DNP 30 9-3 10 33 3/4 He tested with the DEs but I put him here, because he belongs here. Rotational guy.

Greg Gaines Washington 6010 312 5.16 5.17 1.80 30 DNP 31 9-1 9 5/8 31 1/4 Got injured and didn't test through ... if he falls late, even if we drafted a DT already Im looking for him.

Kevin Givens Penn St. 6012 285 5.08 4.87 1.59 32 7.63 31 9-7 9 5/8 32 1/8 This one was interesting. Really smooth and fluid, but is he good enough to be so small? Someone may have a fit for him that he could do really well in.

Trysten Hill Central Florida 6026 308 5.04 5.05 1.74 28 7.70 35 9-7 10 1/4 33 3/8 WHOA. WHERE WAS THIS GUY? He didn't even start at UCF and he was the most explosive and fluid athlete on the field. Yes, more than Williams. I mean, if you told me he was a top ten player I'd be like, "yeah thats the type of testing Im seeing." No idea where he goes of course and he has some "Um, why weren't you starting?" questions to answer ... but he has my full attention.

Albert Huggins Clemson 6027 305 5.12 5.13 1.81 35 7.84 25.5 8-5 10 5/8 33 1/2 He was a little over excited ... but he's SUCH a good player and he will be under drafted.

Dre'Mont Jones Ohio St. 6026 281 5.12 5.13 1.77 DNP 7.71 31.5 9-2 9 5/8 33 3/4 Smooth but not extraordinary. He needed to run faster to get my attention to have him higher than around the 50-64 mark.

Kingsley Keke Texas A&M 6025 288 4.95 4.95 1.77 DNP 7.55 31.5 9-3 9 3/4 34 1/2 So, both A and M players have demolished the postseason process. Keke was one of the smoothest players out there and will be a steal wherever he is drafted IMO.

Dexter Lawrence Clemson 6044 342 5.05 5.05 1.76 36 DNP DNP DNP 10 1/2 34 3/4 He ran a 5.05 at 342. Pulled up with a hammy. He's one of my targets at 31.

Daylon Mack Texas A&M 6010 336 5.10 5.11 1.74 30 8.02 27 8-6 10 1/4 31 1/4 I don't think he gets out of round 2 looking as smooth as he did in the drills at that weight. But if he does Im holding my breath all of round 3. I have him right now bordering on the top 40.

Ed Oliver Houston 6017 287 DNP DNP DNP 32 DNP 36 10-0 9 1/4 31 3/4 Hey man ... test with your fellow players.

Dontavius Russell Auburn 6026 319 5.15 5.16 1.82 24 7.81 DNP DNP 9 1/2 32 Followed Russel for a while ... he's solid, rotational with starter potential. IN this draft he's likely a 5th or 6th rounder.

Khalen Saunders Western Illinois 6003 324 5.01 5.01 1.73 27 7.57 30.5 8-5 9 1/8 32 1/4 7.57 3 cone for this dude? 1.73 10 split? Goodness.

Chris Slayton Syracuse 6035 307 5.13 5.13 1.81 28 DNP 29 8-5 10 5/8 33 1/2 Showed REALLY smooth for someone I didn't have much info on.

Jerry Tillery Notre Dame 6064 295 4.93 4.94 1.69 23 7.45 32 9-7 10 5/8 34 1/4 Great times speed and in a 5 tech I think he'd be a better player ... 7.45 3 cone? I'd take him after a trade down. Plays inconsistent.

Armon Watts Arkansas 6045 300 5.23 5.24 1.81 DNP DNP DNP DNP 9 5/8 33 3/8 Big dude, moves pretty well. Rotational.

Christian Wilkins Clemson 6032 315 5.04 5.05 1.76 28 DNP 29.5 8-11 9 3/4 32 1/2 He's a better football player than he tested, and he tested well. Smooth and fluid in the drills. Top 10 unless people get weird and impulsive.

Quinnen Williams Alabama 6030 303 4.83 4.84 1.67 DNP DNP 30.5 9-4 9 5/8 33 1/4 Cemented his spot as likely the top player. I have him above Bosa after this. It's a mistake to compare him to Donald though, as Ed Oliver is closest there. He's notably bigger.

Daniel Wise Kansas 6025 281 5.28 5.29 1.80 22 7.53 27.5 9-4 10 33 Light for me, but smooth.

Renell Wren Arizona State 6047 318 5.01 5.02 1.75 30 7.65 32 9-10 10 33 7/8 Here is a big kid who has had inconsistent play but moved really smooth and could be had late and really help at the 5 tech spot. He played inside and I think he would have been much better outside in a 3-4.
