I've read several posts that rain on Brockers parade, but I'm not quite sure what that 's about.
For one thing, it is hard to know just what exactly the coaching staff is asking him to do.
Looking at his stats, his sacks are down, but his tackles and assists are at the higher end of his career stats.
I have looked at him specifically in game replays, and while I don't see anything special, I don't see a lack of effort or a bunch of mistakes (although, as I said, none of us know exactly what he's supposed to do on any given play).
But here's what it comes down to: is he worth an $11 mil cap hit next year, like this year? I think that's questionable. The thing is, though, can we find another player who can give us at least as much (more, hopefully) than we're getting from Brockers at the same or a lesser cost? To get like for like would be a bad move, because Brockers is a good team player and is consistent and doesn't miss many games (none this year). No serious injuries to his body. And he can play multiple Dline positions.
I do know that the Rams could cut him after this season and save $10 mil against the cap next year, with only $750 K dead money. Trading is highly unlikely because of his high salary. And I must say, depending on who is on the FA market, saving $10 mil is pretty attractive for a player who to me is a B player at best.
