It's no wonder that McVay has high hopes for the kid.
And it's no wonder that Quick and Britt were allowed to walk and Kendricks was cut.
Sorry, but these guys were POOR and/or inconsistent route runners.
Goff has a good, accurate arm. What I saw was certainly some misses on his part; but also a bunch of looks on his face that said: "Where the heck were you?"
Clearly our WRs were not running good routes, and things that involved timing were just awful.
But when given time to throw to a truly open Receiver, I saw a good arm and an accurate throw.
I think we're going to see a quantum leap with Goff this year due to McVay and the OC and QB coach. And because they are going to demand good route running. That is what the Woods signing had to have been about. And whatever WR they take in the draft is going to be about route running. This is going to be a timing pass offense. And the timing depends every bit as much on the WR getting to right spot on time as it does the QB throwing it at the right time.
As for Goff: the main thing he needs for himself is more strength and sand in the pants. He has the ball knocked out of his hand way too easy when getting sacked. I'll be pretty disappointed if he's not at 225 in training camp. He probably needs to be around 230-235 for the long term (if possible).
