Let's assume for the sake of discussion that Groy comes to the Rams.
We need the following before opening day to be competitive:
WR. Probably draft
TE. Draft.
Back up RB. Draft or maybe even UDFA. Don't think Benny is coming back.
DE/Edge. Draft.
LB. Might be vet FA, but could be draft. Wade's call, I guess.
CB. Draft. Definitely, if TruJo traded. Very, very probable even if Tru stays for one year. Too much value in this class.
S. Might draft because it's reportedly a good class. Might like Randolph or some other already on roster, though. Iffy as an outside need.
PK. Zuerlein likely gone. Probably gonna select a UDFA.
So where do things stand, then?
If Tru is traded, we definitely use a high pick on CB, but I think we can use cap savings for two solid FA's to address needs above.
If Tru stays, we're still in pretty good shape. We have 4 picks through the 4th round in a deep draft. That's our WR, CB, TE, and either a LB or a edge rusher. All else has to be later picks or UDFA's.
The point is that a "first year fix" is looking doable at this point. We could enter this season with no glaring holes, pending Goff's development. Can you believe it?
