Yes it was stupid mathematically. It was the wrong decision. But frankly, I need to give Fisher credit. One of my biggest complaints about "Fisherball" is the lack of killer instinct. Sitting on a 3-point lead and throwing 2-yard-outs at 3rd and 7 just chaps my hide.
So now, Fisher makes an error. BUT: he makes an error on the side of aggression. This is important. This is a scoring league, and if you can run up more points, down 11, I can see and understand the desire to "stick it" even harder to the TB defense. Now, the actual play call was irredeemable, running a QB sneak into the arms of like 6 defenders. But assuming they had called something that worked, I can see it creating a "rolling, unstoppable offense" that is demoralizing. And I support that.
So no, mathematically and tactically this was an indefensible call. However, it was Fisher being over-aggressive, which I CAN and WILL support.
