However, they were able to draft Zuerlein and found Matt Gay so they just thought they could do it again. Last year, IMO, woke them up. They brought in two kickers last year that were 1 & 2 for the Lou Groza award in Christopher Dunn & Tanner Brown, but both failed. Then they went the Veteran route with Brett Maher, but he missed too. They pivoted to find a young kicker on a practice squad, in which, they went with Lucas Havrisik , but he was the worst of them all and then went back to Mahar.
Les Snead said, kicker was one of the major needs going into the draft and fortunately for the Rams, there were three good ones this year and IMO, the Rams got the best one. I believe they learned their lesson and after Karty's rookie deal, he will be compensated and will be the kicker for the Los Angeles for many years to come.
