I think it might be more about them realizing they need WRs that can create separation against good man to man coverage

Deebo and others may have been exposed as WRs that have a tough time against good man to man DBs in the Super Bowl.

Therefore they felt the need to draft not 1, but 2 of the best WRs vs. man to man coverage.

Cowing was #2/124 vs. man in 2022 and #34/155 in 2023.
Pearsall was 25/124 vs. man in 2022 and #43/155 in 2023.

For the Rams, Wiglusz was #1/124 vs. man in 2022 and #32/155 vs. man in 2023.
Stoops was #37/124 vs man in 2022 and #22/155 vs man in 2023.
Both of these guys are hard to cover. Not to mention Laap, who has some stats and measurement numbers that say he may be on the roster when all is said and done - for all 3, it probably comes down to who can play ST/return kicks.

Puni was a very good OL pick for the niners. I was hoping somehow the Rams would draft him, but I do agree with Alyo, OL is still their weakest link.
