Rams ran 3-4, 5-1, 4-2-5 and 4-1-6 in that game and a 4-3 once (and people would see it as a 6-1 anyway).
Rams have used 4-man lines in nickel situations from the days of Wade Phillips.
They are either 4-2-5 or 4-1-6, they are not 4 DL and 3 LBs
People get confused when they see a DE on two legs or a OLBer in a two-point stance. Pretty clear he and the people he is quoting
really don't get what Rams have been doing going on 5 years.
Blaine does try, give him credit but he's just throwing stuff against the wall to see what sticks.
Rams drafted guys that will fit wit what they have been doing and these are guys that can also fill roles in they do not start.
Berse will play OLber like Hoecht did in base, and DE in the 4-2-5. Fiske, if all goes to play will likely play Fiske's DE position ..
either a 4i, 4, or 5 tech in the 3-4 and 5-1... and if he proves to play the pass well, could take Turners spot as a 1t/2i in the 4-2-5 and Turner
will likely play Donald's 3-tech position.
Jackson and Davis will challenge for depth. Davis seems like he could spell Brown III, taking Turner's snaps who was a backup NT last year.
Jackson will fight to be a 3rd/4th/5ht OLBer or just be a rusher in the 4-2-5 ... or 4-1-6 ... depending.
