Was soooo botched by the prosecution..

In '84 I jumped into a swimming pool with leather pants on.. by morning those pants had shrunk about 12 sizes and 8 inches of length.. Luckily I wasn't still wearing them or I'd have been in serious trouble.. I guess my point is I thought it was pretty common knowledge that leather shrinks dramatically after getting wet..

Hard to believe someone on the prosecution wasn't aware of that, or did the guy just wing it on the spot without it actually being a planned tactic? I've never read up on the trial, so don't know if it was a spur of the moment thing, or not..
