I get your point. But, couldn't this also allow Les a bit of ammo to trade up in the 1st round if need be to get one of the top 3 Edge Rushers? I mean, if the Rams don't need to draft what is essentially an immediate CB starter, they could use perhaps their 3rd round comp pick to move up in round one, essentially trading a pick for White.
I guess the idea is that this gives the Rams all sorts of flexibility in the upper part of the draft.
That's what I think ... gives flexibility ... they can try and trade up or if that fails, they can take whoever is best value in 1st ...let's say edge rushers are gone quickly ... and there is a gap...that a good one will be there in 2nd round ... and if say the Toledo kid falls, now that can take him or trade back ...
I think it helps to not be locked in ... we just don't know how Rams board is stacked, or who will drop ... or if Rams want to deal up or down ...
they could take a CB in round 1, deal both #3s to get an extra 2 --- and get a CB, edge, and DT in whatever order fits ...
I only think they still will draft a CB at some point with first 4 picks.
