Born on this day in 1940—Joe Carollo LT (Notre Dame): Drafted by the Rams 2/16/1962 (6-2/265)….Started at LT from 1962-1968 (appearing in 97/starting 70) did not miss a game 1965-1968…Pro Bowl in ’68…Was traded to Philly in the Bob Brown/Jim Nettles deal…started two years for Eagles…and returned to the Rams in 1971 as a back up…

Think about the Rams draft class in 1962… #2 Roman Gabriel, #3 Merlin Olsen…then Carollo at #16…They also drafted USC FB Ben Wilson…Longtime Cardinals kicker Jim Bakken he kicked until 197...In the 9th round they also took a DE from St. Augustine named Ike Lassiter (6-5/270)…he signed with the Broncos in the AFL…After three seasons he went to the Raiders…and from 1965-1969 he registered 61.5 sacks…What a draft......
