Why is it that it looks like so many find it hard to imagine getting a good edge rusher in the draft and that only through FA can we get a good one. Some of the very posters who are afraid of getting your edge in the draft are very up for getting a WR in the draft.....WR is supposed to be a hard starting point for a rookie, but no issue going there in the draft? I'm talking 1st round here.
I think there are 3 if not 4 good options at edge, I do think that Chop may be the most of a gamble as he just hasn't played that much. He does show well in the combine #'s but to me they didn't translate to actual #'s on the field. The other main 3 are very good players.
As I say the fear, dread of picking a Edge in the draft has me baffled. It looks like many want anything but an edge in the draft as though they just don't ever hit. They have called for every single FA edge to sign and almost seem to dislike all the draftees at the position, as though they just can't possibly hit on one.
IMO they did more than well with Young last year and he was in the 3rd round. 8 sacks is a great starting point. And that was done strictly on speed, his technique hasn't emerged yet. Latu, Turner, and Verse will be very solid players with IMO each trying to outdo the other(s).....
