Was waiting for this topic as its actually an interesting and timely one. On paper, you can make the argument that we are better suited for a 4-3, with Turner as a 3-tech and Brown on the inside with him. Young had some evals prior to the draft that he might be better with a hand on the ground, although he seems light for that, but he's got a big frame. Hoecht is certainly more suited to be a 4-3 end. Jones could obviously play MLB, and WILs and SAMs are readily available. I know for a fact that its been discussed internally, and the reality is that most teams usually use both concepts anyway even though their base is one or the other. You can also argue that we could have done it officially a while ago with Donald being a perfect 3-tech, but they didn't. However, where the rubber meets the road is what we do with our first one or two draft pics. One of those is most certainly to be edge or rush DE. Latu or Verse are big enough for either. But other edge prospects are much lighter. Hopefully we will have the personnel to move in and out of both, as that deception is valuable, particularly moving from a run stopping 4-3 to a pass rushing 3-4 interchangeably depending on down and distance without massive personnel shifts.
