I say that we need 2 starters - Kendrick was a dud, not only for his poor coverage (and lack of speed) but also for his penchant to draw penalties, especially around the goal line. Kobie Durant was a disappointment and Spon faded as the season went on. Personally. I'd like to see D Williams re-signed but he's getting older and is small. The other FA CBs don't strike me as shutdown CBs so we may need to draft 2 CBs this year. Seeing how Deebo can be defensed better in man coverage in the SB made me wish for the skilled CBs to give us the option of playing man instead of zone all the time.
I agree that Rams need 2 starting CB’s if they want to seriously contend for a Super Bowl. The Chiefs showed everyone how to shut down the 49ers passing game, but it does require two very good cornerbacks.
Personally, I would be more than happy to sign DW in free agency, and then use our first round pick on best available cornerback. I think that combo would give Rams the best bang for the buck, and the rookie could be a long-term cornerback solution.
Like you, I don’t have a lot of confidence in the CB’s on our current roster. They may or may not develop, I just don’t know. But in a super bowl push, it seems to me that Snead should go all in.
I mean, the Rams do have the cap dollars and the picks to get this done, I believe.
