Good article. I understand the dichotomy of the situation. Do I think the Rams should just throw $19M per for a RG who spent less than a full season with the Rams? Probably not. Will a desperate team who needs a major upgrade on their OL, like the Jets, make an offer for Dotson? Probably. But then there’s also the strange psychology we sometimes see with McSnead. I just hope they are not prioritizing Shelton over Dotson because Dotson is clearly the better player. So, I agree with the mindset of letting Dotson test the market and maybe he waits. But if some teams signs him, the Rams must really think about his replacement as a priority.

I think it’s safe to say that the Rams are prioritizing both Shelton and Dotson as starters for 2024. Doesn’t mean that they will be paid the same salary, of course, but a starter is a starter. If Rams cannot extend either player, you can be sure that they will either acquire another promising free agent and/or draft same for both positions.
