As Stafford goes, so goes the Rams.
Dotson is more important than an elite Edge. A bit less performance of an Edge won't kill the D or the team (especially if we upgrade our Secondary).
But, not having a superior IOL will kill the O and Stafford. It is the IOL that is key to the run game, and with a run game Stafford is better protected.
Further (I know I'm a broken record) the IOL is every bit as important...I think more important.... for pass protect today than OTs because the days of stoning DEs and Edge's is over. Also offenses are designed for the QB to get rid of the ball in 2 to 2.2 seconds. The days of even 3 seconds are long gone because pass rush is so good from the edges.
So an OT's job is not to get bull rushed to the interior, and at the same time to make his man go as wide as possible. Get an Edge to go wide, and by the time he gets near the QB the ball should be gone.
Dotson is maybe the key to our Oline being as good as towards the end of 2023, or probably slightly better.
Dotson is a more important keep than any Edge that will be available.
