The Rams have (so far) retained 14 coaches from their 2023 coaching staff. Shula got a promotion to DC, the other 13 return in the same capacity they held last year. To me it looks like a good foundation for the 2024 staff.

Head Coach: Sean McVay

Offensive Coordinator: Mike LaFleur

Inside Linebackers/Pass Rush Coordinator: Chris Shula (now DC)

Special Teams Coordinator: Chase Blackburn

Defensive Backs/Pass Game Coordinator: Aubrey Pleasant

Secondary Coach: Chris Beake

Assistant Defensive Line Coach: AC Carter

Outside Linebackers Coach: Joe Coniglio

Defensive Assistant: Mike Harris

Tight Ends Coach: Nick Caley

Offensive Line Coach: Ryan Wendell

Assistant Offensive Line Coach: Zak Kromer

Wide Receivers Coach: Eric Yarber

Running Backs Coach: Ron Gould

And these are the guys who have moved on: there are 9 of them.

Assistant Head Coach: Jimmy Lake (now the DC in Atlanta)

Defensive Coordinator: Raheem Morris (now HC in Atlanta)

Defensive Line Coach/Run Game Coordinator: Eric Henderson (now co-defensive coordinator/DL coach at USC)

Offensive Assistant: K.J. Black (now Offensive Assistant in Atlanta)

Offensive Assistant: Nick Jones (now Assistant OL coach in Atlanta)

Pass Game Specialist: Jake Peetz (now Pass Game Coordinator in Seattle)

Quarterbacks Coach/Pass Game Coordinator: Zac Robinson (now OC in Atlanta)

Assistant Special Teams Coach: Jeremy Springer (now ST Coordinator in New England)

Coaching Analyst: Tim Berbenich (now Pass Game Specialist/Game Management in Atlanta)

Of the 9, who will the Rams miss.?

Lake? Maybe. The Rams added John Streicher, former Director of Football Administration for the Titans. He was their assistant head coach in '18 and '19 and their coordinator of football development from '20 thru '22 before that. Will definitely bring in some new ideas. Is he better than Lake? Worse?

Morris? Maybe. Let's see what Don Shula's grandson can do as DC before we mourn this loss.

Henderson? Maybe. He did a great job with the Rams for sure. The Rams addressed this loss by hiring Giff Smith. Smith has experience as a DL coach, OLB coach, and interim HC. Notably, Henderson was Giffs' assistant DL coach with the Chargers in '17 & '18.

Springer? Maybe. Chili Davis is the new assistant special teams coach. I have no idea if this is an upgrade, downgrade, or a push. Not even sure how we'll ever know.

Peetz, Robinson, and Shula have yet to be replaced as far as I know. These appear to be important hires and I am looking forward to seeing who the Rams get.

Black, Jones, & Berbenich? No disrespect intended, but how hard will it be to bring in comparable coaches?
