Here's the problem: any draft pick is a gamble

February 15, 2024 10:20AM
In the same year we drafted AD, we drafted one of the greatest can't miss LOT prospects ever. Greg Robinson. And, the Rams crapped out.

We know what we have in Jackson. Tough, hard worker, a little nasty, and still getting better. Does a nice job as is he is right now. Is he Trent Williams or Tyron Smith? No. But you don't need Trent Williams or Tyron Smith to win the Superbowl.

An awful lot of guys drafted as LOTs high in the 1st round wind up being RTs. Or, they wind up being quite pedestrian, far under performing their draft position. I know that can happen with any position. But, when we have a good young cheap starting LOT, why use our highest pick to go after another one.... that is, by definition, unproven.

Better we take a chance on a CB or Edge or something we do need, instead of on something we don't.
