In that situation, I'd say "Give us the ball."
Give my a rest; the SF D was losing to the KC O at that point and regrouping, hearing from coaches on the sidelines, seemed like a good choice and could have swung game momentum. If your O scores KC is playing catch-up against a rested D - granted, against a rested O, but if I were SF I'd rather face a rested Mahomes with a rested D than face Mahomes in
any condition with a fatigued D.
Let's say you give Mahomes the ball and he scores a touchdown - the KC pressure was taking a toll on Purdy's effectiveness (I thought he played surprisingly well; I admire the young man) and in a do-or-die situation against what Spags was dialing up - playing for a tie so you could stay in the game would have been a heavy load.
