If the Rams are looking to replace Stafford, that's news to pretty much everyone.
This is a media conception because they look at Stafford's age and think this must be the end, without apparently looking at any tape of his games. The dude is still zinging lasers, at all sorts of arm angles, and is running around out there like Bambi.
Why in the world would the Rams spend their first 1st rounder in years for a position for which they have no need. And please, no GB comparisons. GB took Rodgers because Favre was on a definite downward trajectory. They took Love because Rodgers is so non-committal, and such a head case, that there was no figuring out what the future held for him. He could have retired a couple of years ago and sold Yoga pants, or he could decide to play longer than Brady. No one knows because he doesn't know.
Stafford will be honest with the Rams and they honest with him. He is NOT declining. He is NOT flakey.
Spending a first round pick at this point makes no sense.....UNLESS....he has secretly told the Rams this will be his last season. If that's the case, then I guess I could see it. But I still don't think McVay wants to raise a QB from puppy. He's wants one that is already house broken, has played and has wins, and has some elite talent proven to work at the NFL level.
