No, it was easy at the time too.
I like coaches who go for it on 4th down. But it is a situational thing. Staley was another who just went with "if we're on their side of the field and it's less than 6 yards, we go for it".
It's kinda like a bluff in poker. You should bluff once in awhile. At the right time. And it takes guts. But it is not a sound strategy if overused.
Depends on the game. And what yard line you are on, and how many yards to go. The defense you are playing. The score. The clock. The way the game has gone up until that point.
There is no analytics that can tell you that.
Also, the playoffs are final. You can't be wrong and say "shoot, we'll fix that".
You're back home on your couch.
And the two in question were in FG territory, yet not near the goal line. So even if you get the 4th down, you may just end up with another 4th down situation.
