One thing that McVay could have learned from morris is that the players will go to the mat for a coach they believe in, a coach who relates to them, a coach who connects with them.
That doesn't neccessarily mean a coach who is "soft" on them or "likes' them. The coach has to believe in his players and want the best for them, and the players have to believe in, and want to do their best for the coach. There's trust and accountability in both ends of the relationship - and the manager, or coach in this instance, sets the tone and the framework of the relationships.
I hope McVay sets out pro-actively to get that kind of a coach. He had one in Eric Henderson.
