I think that is an excellent question....

and could lead to a very long discussion... but I'll keep this short. I lean "football smarts". But I would define it a little differently than you... .NOT that you're wrong.

There are some players who instinctively rise 'above'... especially when the going gets tough. And I don't think that those players equipped with that instinct could define it, or explain it, themselves. You'd probably just get an answer akin to "Well, seemed like the right thing to do". - JamesJM
