Does IQ trump football smarts, or the other way around?

January 24, 2024 01:56AM
I know that some teams give what amounts to IQ tests to draft candidates.... especially to QBs.
But.... does that matter to "football smarts"?
The Rams seems to pick guys who have both.... generally but not universally. So, does IQ have anything to do with having football smarts, or are they independent of one another? Might it more more which one the players have with some positions than others?

What do you think?

I think there are connections between the two most times. Although, I kind of think that perhaps IQ has less to do than having football smarts with playing good football, but it has more to do with how players conduct themselves on and off the field and maybe even with how well they play under duress and at the biggest moments.
