Unless the Rams feel flush with enough later picks to get all the help they need along with the money to pick up the FAs they need to vault themselves into Superbowl contention, then to use a 1st round pick on Bo Nix (or any Q
makes no sense to me.
I can't say that McSnead might not feel that they CAN use a 1st rounder on a QB that may sit for up to 3 years. But, man, that is a lot of faith in someone. Somebody like Nix would likely be 26 or 27 years old before he had the chance to be the Rams starting QB. And if the Rams do feel they have the makings of a Superbowl contender, after lessons learned it is hard to imagine that they would count on a rookie as QB2 no matter what round he's taken.
But, who knows? McVay and Snead may well have a secret man-crush on Nix and are crossing their fingers he'll be there at 19. I'd be awfully surprised at that, though.
Rather there are going to be some real good starting level CBs at 19 and the Rams will likely have their pick of 2 or 3 highly rated ones. Maybe even an Edge Rusher they really like will fall....but I still say they will do all they can to sign a vet, top flight Edge in FA as their primary goal (after resigning their own FAs like Dotson) in which case they wouldn't use a high pick to take another Edge.
