McVay arrogance question

January 15, 2024 01:43PM
Yesterday, despite all the talk today of Lion's HC Campbell's aggressiveness, devised and then adjusted his game plan to erase AD. There were plays in which AD had three players assigned to him. Severely limiting AD'S ability to influence the game. Conversely the Lions only had one game wrecker as well in their front seven, Hutchinson. Yet I didn't notice any adjustments to eliminate his effectiveness. As a result in crucial parts of the game Hutchinson was able to impact what we were trying to do on offense. McVay likes to run his offense the way he likes to run it, thus 11 personnel all the time, but is this arrogance costing him? He refuses to sacrifice a TE in route progression in order to leave him in to block. However when you are going against a very good to great player shouldn't you design your offense to take that players skills into account?

Why not run the ball in the RZ?

Turning away from the run cost us dearly this year.
