Combo of Inconsistencies in his motion and footwork/trusting his arm leading to badly missed throws sometimes. "Not smooth"
Doesn't mean he can't dot an I from 30 yards now and again ... he's gifted with a great arm. His misses are just usually going to be bad because of the lack of natural adherence to the mechanics.
If I were to compare two ... Stroud/Young and Richardson/Levis coming out last year ... the first two I'd call passers and the second two I'd call throwers.
I'd hate to compare it to baseball ... but your fastball throwing closers are meant to pitch one inning ... rather than a true starting pitcher who's form doesn't get sloppy if he's tired or pressured.
It worsens the mistakes and makes mistakes more likely if under any kind of durress ... which is what we've seen form Wentz during his career.
