USED to see old timers, EVERYWHERE, wearing their WWII baseball caps. I have not seen one in over a year. During my 25 and a half years on the Fire Dept, I saw the DRASTIC drop off in calls to these folks. Chatting with them, I have said, was maybe my favorite thing about being a Fireman. Sometimes, it was bad....About 25 years ago, I did CPR on a fella who was on the West Virginia at Pearl Harbor. But I heard a LOT of cool stories from a lot of people. The sense of humor from one old Fella talking about a bullet fragment still in his pelvic area because as he said......."Some GD Jap Sniper just HAAAAD to shoot me in my a$$ two days before the war ended. That guy was my all time favorite encounter. We talked about his generation and my lack of hope for the current one. He simply said....It'll all work out. I hope.
