I don't think McVay gives a hoot which team he plays. That is going to have nothing to do with who he chooses to keep out of this final game, and who plays. Plus, he has no control over other games that will also play a role in who they play regardless of whatever their final seeding.
Rather, it will be what he thinks is the best thing to do to protect his key players, and to give starters some extra rest and time to heal from all the typical bumps and bruises. BUT....without causing the team to lose any momentum.
This is going to be an interesting Kabuke Dance. I'll be curious to see how he manages the various concerns.
But, of course, especially if the Rams lose to the Niners, he'll be second guessed. And, should he play some starter for even a few plays and he gets injured, he'll never hear the end of it. But, as an experienced HC, I have no doubt that he could care less what some fans think.
