Guys don't often fall off the cliff so I think something is up.
But has Wilson's performance really "fallen off a cliff?"
I mean...it wasn't like he killed it last year (or even the season before in Seattle). What I've seen is a steady degradation of his skills over the past few seasons. This degradation has seen him go from an elite QB to someone who's average to above average. He can no longer grab an offense by the scruff of its neck and pull it (dragging and screaming) to some late 4th quarter BS TD to win a game. And if you don't have a "legion of boom" defense keeping the score close before all of that...well, you're gonna have problems with that.
And trust me...if I've noticed this for the past couple of seasons, then Pete Carroll likely saw it a couple of seasons before anyone else and that is what likely led to the trade.
