We can speculate all day long (as have I). But in the end, it couldn't be clearer that for whatever reason the HC doesn't want Wilson as his QB.
Heck, McVay didn't want Goff even after all that draft capital and a big new contract. And it wasn't like Goff was terrible.
The problem is, when an HC makes an expensive decision like this, it better turn out well, and fast.
It did for McVay and the Rams.
We'll see how it goes for Payton and the Broncos.
But any thought that somehow Payton isn't a really good HC needs to be set aside. This guy is really good, despite a sideline demeanor and personality that can be pretty grating.
