Every time the Rams team has the bar in reach, McVay sets it a notch higher. That's a good thing. But, a couple of items: 1) it is a good tool to develop guys and see just how far the players can go before, at some point, they can go no farther, and 2) there's no price to pay for finally hitting that ceiling such that the players feel defeated and lose their confidence.

I have no doubt that the bar has already been raised a couple of times, and so far the team has been able to respond.

For fans, it's another thing. We tend to be the ones who suddenly expect more than is reasonable to expect after a bit of unexpected success, and then get a bit nuts when the team doesn't meet our raised expectations.

By all accounts the Rams should NOT be a playoff team. Yet, in the whacky world of the NFL, here they are.
So, while we can hope for the best, let's not go all wobbly if they have essentially gone about far as they can (7 wins) and simply can't take it any farther. I certainly would like to see them get 9 wins. But I just have a gut feeling that is one notch too high of a bar.

And by no means should the Rams beat the Saints does that mean that the 9th win (against the Giants) is all but assured. Every game is hard to win.
