For some reason, I can vividly remember watching that game.

The announcers were Mike Patrick and Joe Thiesmann.

To your point, I remember Ellard being out and Flipper making big play after big play.

It wasn't until late in the game when he had about 250 or so yards that I remember Patrick say "he's having a big night."

After each subsequent catch, he would say 'oh boy, he's having a big night', and they would show his statistics for the game. Not until he broke the record with 310 yards (Stephone Paige previously had the record with 309 yards), did they show a graph indicating he had broken the record.
