The Rams came into 2023 knowing that- largely for cap reasons- they could not have a K and P making several million dollars in salary the way Hekker and Zuerlein were for a while. Just was not going to work. I hated losing Gay but it was what it was. Those positions had to be inexpensive now.
So they entered the offseason needing to replace the full special teams battery- kicker, punter and long snapper. Well, they've "hit" on two of the three with Evans (one of the top 2 rookie punters in the league and probably one of the top-15 overall already- PFF ranks him 13th) and Ward as their LS.
Obviously they have not found their long-term kicker yet. They can get by with Crosby the rest of this year and hold onto Havrisik entering the spring to see how he develops, See what else is out there in FA or the draft, etc. They have cap space so maybe they can invest in a more tenured, reliable veteran.
Can't solve every need and fill every hole in one offseason. Zoom out and look at the bigger picture and they've done pretty well overall....
