Refs didn't call fouls on Shaq as they could have because some have theorized that the refs are thinking, how else can these guys guard him. AD is such a presence that the refs might subconsciously give the opposing team a little "grace" when blocking the unblockable. Not saying it is right but it happens. The worse part is that mindset sinks in and in games when going against OL's that need no such grace because they have superior OL's (ala the Niners or Eagles) the refs still allow impeding of AD to continue. Bad OL's might need "assistance" to handle elite players like AD and Myles but that assistance gives very good OL's an unfair advantage.
I thought about the Shaq thing as well.
The thing about it, though, is that, while half of the fouls against Shaq weren't called, the other half were.
AD goes through
stretches of games where NOTHING seems to be called. The last one I recall seeing was against Indy where he drew a holding call against Quentin Nelson.
