I wouldn't be mad with that pick.....sst smiley

I think he's a stud and will play well at the NFL level. But the problem here is what we need in this offense is speed, and particularly that threat outside the hash. Kupp gets beat up, and so does Nacua, but the Rams seem to have a couple underneath threats in place to where a guy like Bowers (who is a good pick period I think) doesn't really move the bar all that much in terms of what we need in stretching the field.

Put his film on though and what do you see. Good size and agility/RAC very much in the vein of Kupp & Nacua. Bigger than Kupp though, and probably a better athlete overall for that matter. But more of the same flavor.

Also the Rams have issues at the cornerstone spots (QB, LT, Blindside Rush, Shutdown Corner). In today's league you can probably add wideout to that, because for a game designer of McVay's quality a player who can stretch the field can change the way defenses call it. Beckham provided a great example of that. So for myself IF the Rams are going to go away from classic cornerstone roles (in this case LT, Edge, or QBotF) with this pick I would prefer they take an impact speed threat outside the hash.

As to who that might be, well, obviously Harrison will go off the board very early I'd think. But Nabers might make it to us and good Lord he is something. I think I would take Nabers over Bowers and that's amazing to me given that I've wanted a top TE added for a long time. If we want to maximize shots at Stafford's remaining window some guys are more impacting than others. If, on the other hand they are looking to phase Stafford out, then LT or QB makes more sense. And btw LT is a pick that makes sense in both regards of course, un-sexy but boy if you hit on one of those guys you are in business.

they say the dude is a generational TE and the best one to come out in over a decade.....McVay might actually expand the playbook with this guy on the field and he would be an absolute nightmare in matchups with LB's and safeties... We have a speed guy already, they just don't look for him much these days as Stafford locks onto Kupp and Puka.

I'd rather go LOT, but like I said, I wouldn't be mad about that pick either

PFF-
1. BROCK BOWERS, GEORGIA

Not long after Kyle Pitts dominated his way through the NFL draft process, Bowers might be the highest tight end ever drafted.

If Bowers could have declared after his true freshman season, he would’ve been a first-round pick. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound tight end gives shades of George Kittle with his ability to impact the offense as a receiver and blocker. He posted 92.2 and 90.5 receiving grades as an underclassman in 2021 and 2022, respectively. His 24 explosive plays (passing plays of 15 yards or more) in 2022 were the most in the FBS for any tight end.

And when it comes to catches through traffic (a necessity for tight ends), he recorded a 76.5% contested-catch percentage last season, which was top 10 for all FBS receivers.

Expect him to be one of the highest-ranked players in the class, regardless of position.
