as this team seems to be doing by ridding themselves of all the vets. To get their cap in order and keep all their picks (for a change) but not address at least for a stop gap a QB to step in for Safford? You have several, what look like great draft picks in this past draft with 3 core players left over to mentor and lead them along with a couple of decent FA vet pick ups.
If they continue on a losing steak how does that help in further development of these young 2nd year guys as well rookies? Losing games means that poor play is taking place, poor scheme is being chosen, poor execution is being done.....IMO losing stunts growth.
Saying that with the picks next year will put us in order may not occur, because you'll need to bring all the new 2024 picks up to speed and also reconstruct all the poor play form the end of 2023 as well.....it could turn out into yet another never ending build...Not saying it will, but it could....
That game yesterday was played against 1 of the worst teams in the league and they mopped the ground with our team. Yes we played with a guy like Rypien at QB, but where were the plays to help him execute better...short crossing routes, screens, even some designed QB runs.....It looked to me that Sean WANTED to disable the run to force the pass.....not a short passing game but a passing game that Rypien was unable to deliver on.....It was 10-3 and boom pass, pass, pass, pass, pass...sure they were forcing the point with 8 in the box, but still yet you can use short passes to soften the box, use quick slants, crosses much like a run game...he didn't do it.
That other team was terrible.....getting 4th down conversions only to have them recalled by stupid penalties, fumbles caused by the ground instead of actual hits. We easily had the luckiest calls/plays go our way yesterday in the whole year and we pissed it away..what can you develop out of that, but mediocrity........
